I got to know him from Oprah. That episode was about how ordinary people became successful and famous, one of them was Arnel Pineda. His mum passed away in the fight with illness, this lead his family into bankruptcy due to hospital bills and funeral expenditures. He and his siblings had to quit school and were distributed among relatives to reduce their family's burden. He would sing for food and money. He joined a band and they won numerous contests. The turning point in his life was one of his fan uploaded a video where he performed live on YouTube and he captured the attention by the Journey. This is where his amazing journey begun.
I was attracted to his voice when seeing he sang 'Faithfully' in the Oprah Show.
Honestly, i never heard of 'Journey' nor Arnel, but i'm amazed by his powerful vocal and surprised to see an Asian is the lead singer in an American band.
The first thing in his mind when first starting making money was to set up a foundation to help underprivileged children in his country (Philippines). So sweet and kindhearted. ^^
What will you do first when you start to making money? Unlike Arnel, I think i'll buy something for myself first before setting up a foundation. heheh..
